Great to meet many working members last month to discuss how the coop works and how we can improve things going forward. Ordering, signage, communication, outreach… Please get in touch at drygoods@4thstreetfoodcoop.org if you want to be more involved in the coop’s back-of-the-house operations.

The meeting takes place at Many Hands Workshop from 5-8pm
Come meet your fellow coop working members, hear from our board and working groups (Communications, Dry Goods, Produce, Membership, Scheduling, Accounting & Finance), and become more engaged in the coop.

If you are not a working member but interested in learning about the coop and/or becoming more involved, you are welcome as well!
The coop celebrates Bike Month in May! Members of cycling advocacy organizations (such as Transportation Alternatives, WE Bike, Time’s Up, Recycle-a-Bicycle, etc.), and people arriving on bikes, trikes, unicycles, rollerblades, skates, or skateboards (not electric) will receive an 8% discount* at the 4th Street Food Coop until May 31, 2026.

Come try our zero-waste, vegan, cruelty-free toothpaste tablets from The Humble Company and Un-Paste! Fluoride-free and fluoride options available. $10.20 for 125 tablets. And if shoppers like them we will be offering bulk/refill options!

Despite the rain, Coop members volunteered last Sunday (4/19) at Union Square to celebrate Earth Day, along with many other organizations committed to sustainability. If you visited our table during the event, come enjoy your 5% discount at the coop until the end of the month!

We played “How many beans are in that jar?” and a third-party young referee made sure the count of beans was accurate (see the little piles of beans on the table on the picture).
We will be holding a table from 12pm-6pm on Sunday, April 19, at Union Square, to celebrate Earth Day along with many organizations working for a more sustainable future. Spread the word and come visit us!
New visitors that shop at the Coop before the end of the month of April will get a 5% discount (not added to other discounts).

If you are a coop member and would like to volunteer on Earth Day, please contact adminwg@mail.mayfirst.org or Marie Mourad or Sara Hyman (see contact information on Shiftr). Thank you for your help!!

Exciting news—we now have Organic Avocado Oil available in bulk for just $13.11/lb! 🥑
Bring your own bottle and try our newly arrived bulk, organic (USDA-certified), expeller-pressed, delicious avocado oil! Avocado oil is great on salads, but also has a high smoke point so it’s good for sautéing, frying, and baking.

To make room for this new addition in our stainless steel dispenser, we’ll be keeping the bulk Apple Cider Vinegar in its jar. If you think you might need a little extra help with filling it up, feel free to do it over the sink. No worries at all—I’d do the same!
We carry several bulk, organic, healthy snack options, including “chunks of energy” (Carob Supergreens, Cha Cha Chia, or Date Flax Turmeric), and our new-ish puffed quinoa chocolate bites (made of chia, maca, 60% chocolate paste, and puffed quinoa). These snacks are delivered through UNFI and Tootsi. You can purchase them in your own containers, and they are all certified organic. Come try them!!
