Draft of Lippes modified training outline

A walkthrough is the preferred training method. From the rear-of-store to register or the other way around.

There are a few important topics that should be gone over at the beginning of training, and then revisiting when finishing training.
  • Shift replacement
    • Shift replacement is not the schedulers responsibility.
    • Recommend taking down phone numbers & emails for neighboring shifts and similar shifts. (giving them time to actually enter #s into their phone if they wish)
    • Point out location of directory and schedule sheets.
    • "cooperative" - each person is supporting everyone else. When you don't cover your shift, you're unfairly impacting others - AND vice-versa - doing people favors is fine, but calling people out for disrespecting your time is fair and expected.
    • Plan ahead. If you follow religious holidays or always go to florida for spring break, find replacements sooner than later.
  • Sign-in – Sign-ins are critical for insurance purposes. This is for both you & the coop.
  • Leaving the co-op – Should you choose to leave the coop entirely, or become a non-working member, the scheduler is responsible for filling the gap in the schedule. If you leave the coop without notifying the scheduler, they will be trying to do their job without all the information. You don't have to explain your reasons. As much advance notice as is possible is appreciated.
  • Follow up and continuity – Try to start jobs that you know you can finish on your shift. If you can't finish something, figure out a way to let later shifts know what needs to be done. Todo lists, notes, and posting to the list work well for this.
